Thespis ... The Home of Performing Arts

Thespis Performing Arts Company

Thespis Drama club was set up in 2010 and has gone from strength to strength. Drama clubs run throughout the school holidays from Abbotts Ann War Memorial Hall in Andover. Sessions are suitable for 5-14 year olds. During the Easter, Summer and Christmas drama clubs the children always work towards a live show. We feel that it is important that the children have something to aim for and that friends and family have a chance to see them perform. We pride ourselves on developing each individual and in particular their confidence and performance skills. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child blossom and leave each drama club feeling proud of themselves for their achievements.

Why Thespis?

The Greeks were a clever bunch! Not only did they invent democracy but also theatre! When thinking of a suitable name for my line of work, it seemed most appropriate to choose ‘Thespis’ in honour of the name of the first ever actor who lived in Greece during the 6th century BC. The word ‘Thespian’ used today is also derived from this important yet often forgotten about historical figure.
